Central Logging is a new product that I developed out of frustration with the pricing of good SaaS based logging solutions and the complexity of running and maintaining open source solutions. The SaaS solutions start you off with what looks like a generous free tier but it quickly becomes expensive to do basic alerting. They often have a bunch of hidden fees and everything is an add-on. Open source is great and covers pretty much all logging and metrics needs. The only problem is that it is complex and requires several separate services you have to run, update, backup, and maintain.
I designed Central Logging to give you great logging and monitoring but to be easy to run and deploy. It is a single binary you can drop on a VPS and forget about.
Central Logging is new but a lot of the code for it isn’t. I took my own home-grown logging and monitoring solution that I have been using for years and polished it up and created this new product. I’ve been successfully logging and monitoring my systems for years now with this code base.
